Why not combine a nostalgic journey by steam with a relaxing bicycle ride or walk through the Norfolk countryside? A footpath and cycle path runs alongside the entire length of the track from Aylsham to Wroxham.

The Filby Parish walks encompass aspects of Filby village and countryside. Each walk shares the same route from Filby bridge to Filby All Saints church. Look out for the information boards located around the walks.

This 5½ mile walk is around the Plumsteads that lay to the east of Norwich. Take the B1140 for approximately 4½ miles from the Norwich outer ringroad. Parking is available at the Little Plumstead Village Hall in Crowes Loke.

Halvergate is 2 miles south of the A47 between Acle and Great Yarmouth. The whole of the 5 mile walk has panoramic views of the countryside. The route is mainly around the Halvergate marshes that have a bounty of wildlife (5 miles, about 2½ hours walking)

5 ½ miles long, or 4 ½ miles if the shorter route is taken. Much of the walk follows the Weavers Way long distance route. The area between Candle Dike and Decoy Road is a National Nature Reserve and is looked after by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.

This attractive circular walk is approximately 4 miles long. It passes over the former Rackheath airfield which was opened as a base for B-24 Liberator bombers in 1944 and derequisitioned in the late 1950s.

The walk passes along pleasant country lanes and footpaths. Dating from the 15th century, All Saints Church has a thatched roof and a rare example of Lecturn Bell by the rood screen.

There is an attractive 5 mile circular walk around Stalham and the surrounding countryside. The town itself is interesting, with many Georgian buildings and an inn dating from 1380. The walk goes past todays holiday boatyards, as well as the old staithe.

The Weavers Way crosses the large expanse of Halvergate Marshes, which are managed as traditional grazing meadows and are of international importance. The route across the marshes can often be quite wet so suitable footwear is recommended.

Weavers Way offers a full taste of the Norfolk Broads. Beyond Hickling village, Weavers Way passes through Hickling Broad National Nature Reserve and provides the walker with exceptional opportunities to enjoy this unique landscape.

Leaving Thurne village the route joins the River Bure passing close to Oby and Clippesby Mills and then onwards to Acle. Acle village would have been in Roman times on the edge of an extensive estuary system, which is now part of the Halvergate Marshes.

You can walk the whole route or explore parts by cycle, train and river bus. Alternatively you can walk one of the ten circular walks enroute. Look out for the unique waymarkers, which include figures, sculpture, information panels and audio points.

This unusually varied 6 mile walk links Winterton to East Somerton, and runs almost entirely along tracks and footpaths. It is waymarked throughout, and is easily followed.
